Music Philosophy

Music is a powerful mysterious tool, used to shape cultures. Through it generations have been changed, revolutions have been born, ideas have been passed and visions have been birthed. Today is a day like no other for music. Access to the entire musical spectrum has never been available before like it is today. There was a time where Harmony did not exist and musical chords and scales where non existent. Through the many efforts of great musicians and composers of the ages today we have the most complete musical system for exploring the universe of sound. That combined with the invention of the synthesizer and other various instruments your imagination is the limit to the music you can create. No one knows for sure just what music is exactly and the effects it has on our being. Can it be defined as only a set of varying vibrations and leave it at that?
There is no denying that music is closely tied to our souls and can influence our moods and feelings. I like to view it as what fills the gap between the spiritual and the physical.
So what about music, does it make a difference what kind of music we listen too? Does some have a good effect or a bad effect on us? What a topic for debate! Who can say where the line is I would like to know. My belief is there is an answer and one day I would like to find it. If we think in the practical sense, we can draw a line of some sort to measure the music. I see it on a spectrum from dark to light and from happy to sad, also from energetic to relaxing. Can there be more? Intersecting spectrums that meet in an indefinite form. To say if one musical piece is bad and one good can be up to ones own opinion. I believe there is extreme absolutes at the far end of the spectrums and a gray area in between. We can judge by the way the music makes you feel by your spirit and or feelings, and by the fruits through the artists themselves. My own convictions are that music that makes me feel disturbed, upset, tranced out I can live without. Most of this resides on the darker end of the spectrum. I like to listen to uplifting, happy, energetic, sometimes sad or relaxing even a little bit dark sounding, things that you can explore life with and doesn't bring you down. I do not believe that one tone can change things for the better or for the worse, but rather it is the unity or disunity of combining notes, tones and musical textures together is what brings the change in music. Words play a heavy role in changing the music. No matter what kind of music the message changes everything. I do not want to be influenced by selfishness, shallowness, perversion, wrong theology through the words spoken over artist’s music. For life and death are in the power of the tongue. What is the appearance of these artists, what do they sing about, how do they live there life? The fans of the artist will always portray characteristics of the message and feel of the music. It is my conviction that most mainstream music today is having negative effects on this generation. My goal through my music is to have a positive effect on this generation, and inspire others to do the same with there music. A revolution of people who write music by the spirit, who write deep creative songs, not for the money but for the passion of changing the face of our culture for the better. Anybody can adopt this principle by producing and writing with correct morals and standards. For me it goes beyond the music to a spiritual revolution to turn people from darkness to light through the love of Christ. Regardless of your religious beliefs, weather you believe in Christ or not or any religion you can be a part of the positive change in the musical revolution.
Don't be satisfied with the now, for the now is already gone. Press forward to the future...
